Returns to good universities
New research confirms what we have been quantified, but no suspects – that no matter what happens in college.
This study shows that there are significant differences in income higher, depending on the quality of the university. For example, if a university has an ACE score of one standard deviation above average, graduates earn on average 4% more than the average for graduates. A graduate of a university top quartile earns 10-16% more (depending on the measure of quality that is used *) who have graduated from a bottom quartile.
These differences control for students on the results and other things and try to correct the fact that the improvement of universities to attract the best candidates.
There appears to have had an increase in revenue over time, suggesting that the figures of the university have increased, as well as premium contribution to a better.
The document is however silent on the question whether the best graduates of universities to increase their income, giving them more power, or simply because of their better signal quality.
This suggests that there might be a case for lifting the ceiling on university tuition. The current ceiling of £ 3145 per year, is to suggest that all universities are the same as almost all of the maximum load. This is not the case.
* However, there is a negative correlation between the salaries of graduate teachers and incomes.
